Life at CVE

Gray Line

Big Ideas Start from Within

Combination of the Smartest Minds.

People at CVE are thinkers, dreamers, and doers. That’s why we recruit people with more than just a passion for disruptive ideas – they must also have the courage to bring them to life.

We believe those ideas can come from anywhere. It’s how we design and implement different concepts, project management/construction structure each year. Some emerged from our employee fun day, others were simply thought of while sitting outside. There’s no working behind closed doors here. We invite everyone to work collaboratively and act as if CVE were their own company – it’s all part of our ownership culture.

Diversity & Inclusion

At CVE we strive to transform the everyday for our customers, employees, and society. Committing to this transformation means committing to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Diversity ensures that we reflect the communities in which we operate. Through Equity we ensure everyone has access to the same opportunities and is treated fairly. And Inclusion is how we actively empower the voices of everyone. Through a spirit of Belonging, we empower our people, finding untapped opportunities for everyone’s growth. Belonging enables the creation of technology with purpose. Belonging transforms.

We celebrate and support our community and allies. We strive for a workplace and a society where everyone can feel fully appreciated, safe and free to be themselves. At CVE, you don’t have to leave your identity at the door.

Ethics & Compliance

The CVE compliance system. Compliance is a top management priority for CVE. That’s why the Legal and Compliance Department falls directly under the purview of CEO Dave Reis.

CVE shows zero tolerance toward corruption, violations of the principles of fair competition and other breaches of the law – and where these do occur, we take swift action. But compliance means much more than just adhering to laws and to the regulations described in the CVE Business Conduct Guidelines. Compliance forms the basis for all our decisions and activities, and it is the key to integrity when conducting business.

Our premise is this: Only clean business is CVE business. This applies throughout and at all levels of the organization.

The CVE compliance system comprises a comprehensive system of measures to ensure our business is always carried out in full accordance with the law as well as with our internal principles and rules. In the process, we also want to instill the notion of responsible conduct in everything that CVE employees think and do.

Our Compliance System is divided into three levels of action: prevent, detect, and respond. Preventative measures include, for example, compliance risk management, guidelines and procedures, and comprehensive training and advising of employees. Communication channels. Unambiguous responses and clear consequences serve to punish misconduct and eliminate weaknesses. The responsibility all managers carry for compliance is the overarching element above these three levels.

CVE is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace, as well as protecting the environment and local communities affected by project development. This objective is inherent within our planning, design, and construction of projects nationwide. To facilitate this approach, CVE has Environmental, Safety and Health requirements that apply to all projects regardless of geographic location.

Contractors selected to perform work on our projects are required to comply with applicable laws, regulatory demands, contract obligations, and CVE ES&H policies.

If a government law, regulation, or requirement exceeds a project’s ES&H requirements, the more stringent requirement will apply.

As a company, we believe that zero incidents are always an achievable goal. To achieve that goal, we utilize our in-house recognized transactional HSE management systems and transformational leadership

Furthermore, we believe Zero Harm 24/7 empowers both employees and customers to adopt a safety-centric mindset in everyday activities — at home, work, and play. When we recognize that our personal relationship with safety extends outside the workplace, then we can truly realize our objective of Zero Harm.

Our Health & Safety Division works closely with the Operations and Construction Management divisions to maintain an optimal balance of Safety & Production, regardless of budget constraints, by utilizing the experience of the Safety Division Manager and our Field Mangers. This is the result of a robust training program for our crews that consists of OSHA 30 and CPR training for all Field Supervisors and Foreman with supplemental quarterly training and OSHA 10 training for all tiers of field team members at CVE.

Other continual and specific staff training includes:

  1. LOTO Safety
  2. NFPA70e
  3. On-site hazard and risk assessments
  4. Corrective/Preventive Action procedures
  5. Equipment operation certifications

By promoting an open line of communication between the Office, Field, and our Clients we are consistently engaged in safety policies and procedures with field teams and company operations. We maintain this by performing bi-monthly Project Safety Audits and employing various fun and productive safety incentives and interactive games along with awarding exceptional independent and team safety behavior. This culture ensures our field crews are informed of industry safety procedures and CVE policies. This keeps them up to date with the latest PP&E and safety equipment with the goal to keep them, their co-workers, CVE, and the entire projects they work on safe.

Keeping our personnel and project sites safe is central to everything we do at CVE. Being part of CVE’s core values and as a leading national company, we are committed to upholding the highest possible safety standards across our business. Our safety culture has been forged from the top down, and , these values are instilled within our organization to ensure the welfare of our people. We retain a knowledgeable and highly skilled team that is committed to safety, adhering to comprehensive HSE safety standards and procedures for each project.

Contractors are responsible for complying with all governing environmental laws, regulations, permits, and project plans. An Environmental Management Plan prepared by each project describes environmental requirements, responsibilities, and documentation. Contractors are expected to use effective planning and control measures applicable to their scope of work. Environmental permitting and approvals will be identified and defined as an Owner, CVE, or Contractor responsibility depending on the authority having jurisdiction. Permits and approvals will be received prior to the associated work being performed.

Quality in the construction business is measured by how well a facility or unit is designed and how well it performs during its lifetime. These characteristics depend heavily on the abilities of our suppliers and contractors to provide best-in-class equipment, materials, and services.

As a company that strives for excellence, our reputation is built on quality. Our team endeavors to incorporate quality-control measures into all facets of our business. CVE’s commitment to quality and the best workmanship standards are always evident in the hundreds of projects executed in our rich portfolio. We operate a certified Quality Management System, and our corporate culture embodies a strong belief in providing only first-rate service.

Suppliers and contractors are responsible for providing equipment, materials, and services that meet all technical requirements of the contract specifications, including all applicable industry codes, standards, permits, and licenses. This means that all equipment and materials arriving at our project sites are defect free and that the workmanship of contractors meets the highest industry standards.

As part of our attention to quality, all equipment and material suppliers and subcontractors are evaluated during and after each project contract. A quality performance rating is recorded in our system for our future reference, indicating the best performing companies that we have used in the past.

We pride ourselves on quality work. We insist on the same high industry standards from our suppliers and contractors.

We promote sustainability not by any single activity but rather by the totality of our efforts to execute projects with excellence. By improving the sustainability in the equipment, materials, and services we procure, we are improving the quality of our projects by helping to protect people and the environment, promote economic development, and partner with communities and society.

The financial strength of a construction company is the cornerstone of success. Having been in business since 2004, CVE has built a solid financial foundation that is a key indicator of our prosperity. This sheds a vital light for clients as it gives them confidence, trust, and comfort in the partner they select. From inception, CVE has maintained a conservative and fiscally-sound approach to management. Our company’s financial strength is reflected through the solid relationship and trust we have with the region’s leading banks.
