Duties & Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Estimator include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Accurate development of material and equipment take offs from prints and data.
  • Accurate development of labor cost takeoffs.
  • Accurate development of subcontractor takeoffs from prints.
  • Inform appropriate individuals of job timing, quantities and equipment needs and where materials are to be picked up.
  • Ensures the quality servicing of customers.
  • Responsible for determining what phases or parts of the project will be sub‑contracted to others, securing and verifying quotes.
  • Where deemed necessary, “shop” material specifications with various manufacturers and/or suppliers for best prices.
  • Responsible for the accurate consolidation of all data from the take-off sheets to either of the appropriate software programs.
  • Development of cost estimates within the time frame set by the Chief Estimator.
  • Assist Project Managers in the development of Change Orders.
  • Develop bids and change orders supplying the estimated cost data to the job costing program.
  • Perform minor engineering and specification writing connected with estimates and change orders as long as they do not deviate from the agreed upon scope.
  • Develop full knowledge of Capitol Valley Electric, Inc.’s estimating and job costing computer systems. Accubid experience is a plus.
  • Solicits new business.
  • Reviews all Job Cost Summary Reports and evaluates the profitability of all completed jobs.
  • Ensure that assigned sales and bid gross profit goals are met.
  • Regularly review Dodge reports, Other Published Construction Data, invitations to bid, emails and any other material / sources that may lead to biddable jobs.
  • Maintains CVE Bid Tracking Log with bid results as available.

Requirements:
EDUCATION: Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Required: High School Degree or GED and AA Degree in relevant field.
EXPERIENCE: Preferred: Extensive experience in the commercial electrical contracting industry.
Required: 2 to 3 years’ of experience in commercial electrical contracting estimating.

Skills:
Must be able to work with people, negotiate, analyze problems and translate company goals into actions necessary to achieve the goals.
Must possess the ability to work closely with diverse groups of people, including company employees at all levels, area contractors, owners, suppliers and other outside professionals with whom the company deals with on a regular basis.

Job Description Summary

As a member of our project management team, you will oversee all aspects of assigned commercial projects from commencement to completion. You will manage these projects in a manner that exceeds our customers’ expectations and ensures that our work adheres to all company safety policies and OSHA mandated requirements.

The Project Manager/ Electrical has full responsibility for assigned electrical projects. Will be responsible for estimating, cost control, forecasting and scheduling multiple projects through final project completion. The PM will be the Owner’s point of contact and will coordinate the job team to meet all project goals. Responsibilities:

  • PM responsibilities include submittals, purchase orders, materials contracts and subcontracts, change orders, as-built documents, and to ensure the high quality of all work performed at a job site.
  • Plan, schedule, and maintain timelines by optimizing resources in a fast-paced construction/installation environment.
  • Manage cost, schedule and resource-loaded schedules providing billings, cash flow and manpower forecasting with complete job costing reviews.
  • Monitoring for compliance with all applicable laws. Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, including assisting in the design and writing the scope of work, management plans, work sequence, safety, and quality control and commissioning.
  • Manage all job closeout procedures.
  • Develop/maintain network of professional relationships within the industry.

Job Description

An electrical foreman is in charge of large and complex projects that employ many different electricians at the same time, and supervises the project as a whole, from the large-scale down to the details. On such a project, a foreman is responsible for providing on-site direction and leadership for workers in order to complete jobs within specific guidelines that include quality standards, time requirements, and budget considerations.

A foreman may be responsible for many different aspects of the job, including planning, customer relations, material management, and quality control. Depending on the employer, a foreman may also be responsible for training employees or overseeing apprenticeship programs.

Job Duties

Managing a team, evaluating employees’ progress, training new team members, attending meetings, identifying conflicts, and resolving problems are all personnel responsibilities that an electrical foreman may have. Other work responsibilities often include organizing and planning a construction project, directing work, inspecting installations for quality, making sure code standards are met, and ensuring job safety.

Foreman Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all sites at all times
  • Produce work schedules in accordance with availability of employees, contractors and labor laws and monitor the attendance of crew
  • Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery and personnel
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, manage and train employees and contractors
  • Provide for adequate resources and staffing to meet safety needs, regulations, best practices, laws and project schedule
  • Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery and equipment including training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures
  • Develop and oversee quality standards on all sites
  • Monitor and manage project budgets on all sites
  • Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on site quickly and amicably
  • Report project status to supervisors, site engineers and officials regularly

Journeyman Electrician Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be state licensed journeyman electrician
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Solid working knowledge of commercial and residential electrical systems
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a journeyman electrician
  • Extensive experience in both commercial and residential work is a plus
  • Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams and follow specifications
